Alone in the Dark

I suddenly realised that I haven't played a computer game in a pretty long time. Not taking into account my Audiosurf escapades, months have passed since I played anything.

Naturally I wanted something new and quickly discovered Alone in the Dark from Atari. I remembered hearing things about it in the past and was quite excited to learn it finally came out.

So without looking for anything else, I waited for the next day to come, to install it. (Everything written above this happend late last night)

My take on this game:
- there are some graphics part I really enjoy. They payed a lot of attention to physics and details (like wind blowing and the hair and clothes moving almost naturally)
- the sound is good, it's ok
- the story is preety original and some ideas implemented in are quite nice. For example you cand grab a piece of wood or a chair, put it near fire using camera movement, and use it instead of a flashlight if you happen to run out of batteries. Because, as the title suggest, most of the action takes part in dark scenes. Personally I don't like games of this type.
- the biggest dissapointment is related to console porting. Or should I say the lack of it. Moving aroung the camera in 3rd person view is awful!! And every time you jump or come in a certain scene it automatically moves from first person view. It also makes fight scene boring, ugly and eventually iritating. It is sad to see that yet another game with good potential suffers from this "console disease".
- I have stopped playing it after about 30 minutes. I didn't advance to much because of improper movement! I heard the character will also drive cars. Don't want to think how that would be on a pc.

In conclusion. Another game blowed by sticky controls. It's a shame. I would not recommend it except if you are very used to them and have a lot of pacience.
